I was so sad last night when I found out the terrible news that musical legend Michael Jackson had passed away. I'm so shocked by this news and can't quite make sense of it in my head. One of my good friends is a huge MJ fan and she's devastated that she won't be able to see him in concert one last time. I hope everyone remembers him for the incredibley talented artist that he was and not for all the controversy in his personal life. I'm listening to all of his classics today.........

My second Download Festival experience is about to commence and I couldn't be more excited! We have a great crew going and we're hoping for a repeat of last years festivities! Damn tube strikes will hinder my travelling to my ride to the festy but it's a small price to pay for an awesome weekend ahead. Most excited to see all the old skool bands I loved in yester year like Slipknot, Korn and Limp Bizkit! I'm finally packed and ready to rock (sorry!). Bring on the cider..............

Last night we went to The Forum in Kentish Town to see Gallows, Everytime I Die and The Ghost of a Thousand. I actually enjoyed the festivities more than I thought I would. We missed the first band and then The GOAT came on stage in their matching white t-shirts (their 'uniform' so I'm told) followed by ETID who I wasn't really too fussed about. I didn't know any of their songs which shouldn't really be a problem but they just didn't draw me in. Fortunately, Gallows then took to the stage and it was the best I've ever seen them. They were so tight and Frank is such an enigmatic front man - it totally works for him (see pics above that I took in 2007 at MTV party). I now look forward to my next encounter with them. Sure it won't be too long.......
I had a whole new gig experience on Tuesday at ULU. We went to see LA band The Bronx and supporting them were a band called Mariachi el Bronx who just so happend to be The Bronx's mexican themed side project!! So in theory they were supporting themselves on tour!! Mariachi reminded me of Mad Caddies, Bosstones and early NOFX which is the style of music which I love. The only downer of the night was when some weird magician dude came on stage before the headliners and cut up a toy rabbit and 'cut his arm' and 'hammered a nail into his head' - it was just a bit to 'out there' for the entire audience. But then The Bronx came on and did there thing and all was forgiven. There were lots of crazy crowd surfers too. Was great to see a band embracing them for a change......
Last night I went to a great show at the Proud Galleries in Camden. We went especially to see a Norwegian electro-troupe called Casio Kids. I was already a fan of the name and really loved their quirky style and how musically diverse the band members were. One in particular sang, played guitar, drums and keyboards all in one set! I chatted to him after the gig and he said that he's yet to learn to play the bass - that's his next task! They're playing a few festivals summer including Latitude so make sure you check them out.......
